The company behind the SUNA traffic channel for GPS systems, Intelematics, has just released this awesome visualisation video showing Sydney traffic. It looks like there’s a little bit too much green in there, from my experience…

Taken from over 3.5 million speed and location traces over a few months, the time-lapse video shows detailed traffic performance over the course of a typical day across the whole city. More than 5000 road sensors and thousands of SUNA equipped vehicles were used to gather the traffic data within a 60km radius of the CBD.

Intelematics hopes that the information will be used in the planning and preparation of future public transport services in the city. We’ll see if that ever actually happens, but it doesn’t stop the video from being amazing.

And even though it tracks traffic across a whole day, am I the only one who sees way too much green in this clip?
