It’s that time of year – when all the big tech companies look at their data sets for all the consumption across the year and today it’s Apple’s turn.

Apple sees the popularity of a huge range of content each year through their iTunes and App Stores as we download, watch, listen to and read things every single day.

Ed Sheeran makes appearances in Apple’s lists as he did in YouTube’s look back on 2017 but the really interesting thing is that a quarter of the top 20 albums were movie soundtracks – with Movies like Trolls and Moana featuring heavily in our playlists in 2017.

And the big winner – Taylor Swift. Her new album “reputation” jumped right into the #3 Album spot despite having only been released just weeks ago – this is likely due to her strategy of putting Apple first – meaning people have to buy not stream it and that clearly matters.
