The third-generation Hyundai i30 hit our shores this year, with three engine choices, 5 variants and plenty of tech. At the local launch we quickly discovered the new i30 sports great looks and an interior that not just rivals but beats many competitors.

The range features plenty of choice spread across the Active, Elite, Premium, SR and SR Premium models. There’s diesel and petrol models on offer and even a genuine big gun. The i30 SR scores a 150kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine with a seven-speed DCT or six-speed manual.

Standard kit includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation with speed zone recognition, DAB+ radio and wireless charging for compatible phones.

The SR alone is worthy of an award, but with the i30 range kicking off from just $20,990 it was an easy choice to award the entire Hyundai i30 line up the EFTM Best Small Car for 2017.
