This is something that deserved to be recognised with an award from the moment it was announced.  Back in June Tim Cook and his team were announcing new features for the software running on iPhones, and one quick mention went to “Do Not Disturb While Driving”.

Having now used it for several months, it’s a potential game changer.  With the NSW government currently running a road safety scare campaign based around the dangers of driving and SMS there’s no doubt it has an impact on the road toll.

The only issue is it’s opt in, not opt out, but as a concept, and for its seamless execution for iPhone users, we reckon Apple’s Do Not Disturb While Driving is the stand-out innovation of 2017 and it gets our Best Innovation award.
