Here’s something strange, normally when a brand new iPhone launches for pre-order the week before it goes on sale – you’ve got to get in fast to secure one for the first day delivery.  Today, iPhone 8 isn’t proving to be such an elusive purchase as people wait for the iPhone X.

In years gone by if you wanted the latest iPhone on day 1, delivered to your door or to pickup in store, you needed to order within minutes of the online pre-orders commencing.

Today the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple TV 4K went on sale for pre-orders and two hours after orders began you can still get any iPhone 8 or 8 Plus for delivery on the 22nd.

Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple TV are both showing delivery dates of 2-3 weeks.

This is not to say the iPhone 8 isn’t selling, it’s just that pre-orders are not happening in huge numbers, it’s just a real break from tradition when it comes to iPhone sales.

Likely the reason is clear, the stunning new iPhone X doesn’t go on sale until November 3, and pre-orders start on October 27.

Despite the high price making the iPhone X the most expensive iPhone ever it seems people are holding out for this all-new look phone.
