Jawbone have taken another step forward with their Bluetooth earpiece with the release recently of the ERA headset. It’s got a great size, slick design and some nice little features which you might just enjoy if you’re in the market for a bluetooth earpiece.
The new Jawbone ERA is 42% smaller than the pervious Jawbone model and when you combine the earpiece itself with the charging case it slips into you’ve got a total of ten hours talk time.
There’s a bunch of custom digital signal processing algorithms the Jawbone team have used to adjust the loudness of the headset to deliver the best possible audio based on your surroundings.
The matching charging case has tiny LED’s on the side of the case to give at-a-glance status of the charging which comes in very handy. I found it useful to keep the charging case in the car and leave the headset in that when not in use – or you could have the case on your desk and bring the headset in with you each day.
At Jawbone they talk proudly of their NoiseAssasin technology, which works hard to take away background noise and deliver the best quality audio to your caller. And importantly with that in place you’ll also find a better performance from speech recognition services like Google Now and Apple’s Siri – both of which are accessible by pressing and holding the button on the back of the ERA.
ERA is so small it’s hard to believe it will work – but it does, great size to help you avoid the “looking like a goose” concept of these products
The sound quality is good but there is better out there. For its size it bats above its average – no doubt.
The somewhere in between:
It’s probably just me but the idea these things just “sit” in your ear is something I struggle with – Always feels like it’s going to fall out.
Available now in Black, Silver, “Bronze” and Red at Apple stores and online at Jawbone.com – you’re looking at $179, or $149 without the charging case.
