Pioneer make some stunning after-market multimedia systems for cars – and they specialise in making that in-car entertainment a step ahead of what was in the car when you bought it. Today they announced support for the new Apple CarPlay coming May-June 2014.

The support from Pioneer means consumers don’t have to wait for the high end car makers to hit the market, and to afford them, you’ll be able to add CarPlay support to your existing car.
CarPlay is a direct iPhone integration with the dash – allowing you to control applications from the in-dash touch-screen and stream multimedia and maps direct from your phone to the screen.
Pioneer will use large LCD displays to integrate CarPlay with compatibility for all “5” series iPhones.
“Pioneer’s years of expertise integrating smartphone connectivity into the automotive environment has provided us the opportunity to be among the first to offer CarPlay to drivers,” said Chris Kotis, General Manager Sales & Marketing of Pioneer Electronics Australia Pty Ltd. “By providing an aftermarket option, Pioneer’s 2014 in-dash multimedia systems will give many iPhone owners the ability to add CarPlay to their current vehicles.”
As well as this CarPlay integration and new entertainment options, Pioneer is also promising a more responsive and advanced user interface than before.
Launch date is not announced, but Pioneer is tell us “Early Winter 2014” – we make that to mean May-June this year.
