IMG_0946Available in the next few weeks at Aussie retail stores, this is so much more than “just” a USB drive.

First of all, great design, when you’re spending this much cash you want to get a feel for the quality of the device just not the technology.

Next up, USB 3.0.  That means faster speeds than you’ve known before with your previous USB drives/sticks.

Add to that a single available capacity – 128GB – there is no second guessing this one, if you need it, you need it – if you just want to move a file now and then – this ain’t for you.

IMG_0952But then, SanDisk throw in their “Extreme” flash drive technology.  That level of flash memory technology that is more wizardry than anything else but offers the best possible read and write speeds.

What speed?  I ran a quick test on my Windows 8.1 laptop and got a read speed of  252.9 MB/s and a write speed of 238.3 MB/s.

That’s the catch – to get the ultimate speed it does need Windows 8.1 and a USB 3.0 port – but you’re not buying this thing without a 3.0 port available.

I tested the drive on my iMac also and was still getting speeds over 200MB/s.

IMG_0947To put all that in perspective, SSD Hard Drives start at around 290MB/s so to be getting close to that speed on a portable and removable stick is pretty darn impressive!

It’s not cheap – not at all, but as I said earlier, this is not for the faint-hearted. If you’re moving large video files from place to place you do not want to muck around – the SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0 Flash Drive might be just what you need.
