Nissan Motorsport is making a return to the mountain in the iconic GTR in 2014 after announcing the release of the 2013 GT-R (R35) GT3 spec model. The mountain hasn’t had a GT-R contenting for an outright title since the Gibson Motorsport Group-A entries in the early 90’s so 2014 looks set to be a big one.

Nissan have had a GT3 spec GT-R doing the rounds since March this year taking victories across the world in both official Nismo teams and customer race teams, but it’s the return of the Nissan Motorsport to the greatest racetrack on earth (EFTM thinks!) – Mount Panorama that really gets us going.

The Nismo developed 2013 GT3 model takes in all the data gathered throughout 2013 thus far to improve the model on the track in areas like engine performance and durability, aerodynamics, brake balance, suspension and gear ratios. All of which will feed into an entry on the grid in Class-A at the 2014 Bathurst 12 hour race.

Leading the international team will be Australian Rick Kelly – part of the Nissan family here in the V8 Supercar series.

The Bathurst 12 hour takes place in February 2014 – I for one can’t wait to see the GT-R’s taking on the mountain at the front of the pack once again!
