Ahh the internet, amazing source of information, news and entertainment.  But when those three things merge with muckraking and photoshop is involved – you’ll quickly find things going viral and people being deceived.  An example from the amazing story of a Whale flipping a surfer into the air at Sydney’s Bondi Beach has proven the perfect storm for photoshoppers.

This incredible story has a surfer being flipped into the air by a whale, knocked unconscious then recovering in hospital to tell his story.  Bondi beach of course is an iconic tourist location so there are plenty of photos snapped.

Imagine taking a photo the moment the surfer was flipped into the air!

Here’s the photo doing the rounds of that very moment:

The first clue the pic is fake is the angle of the tail compared to the upper body of the whale – but don’t quote me, I’m no Marine Biologist.

Let’s look at another photo taken around the same time:

So, my photoshopping mind got to thinking – what would it look like – those two photos together?

Pretty amazing that the whale could flip its tails so high without barely moving, let alone everyone around it not moving.

I’ll let you decide.  Fake or Real – comment below.
