The toughest thing about the new Kraken Black Spiced rum that hits bottleshop shelves this month is resisting the urge to bellow “Release the Kraken” every time you pour yourself a glass.
Named after the mythical sea creature that haunted sea-faring rum drinkers at a time when pirates ruled the sea and a good ship was the only way to travel, the new spiced rum differs from other variants by being based on a dark rum, and features a blood-red tinge from the secret spices used to give the drink its flavour.
Drinkable on its own, over ice, or mixed with coke, lemonade or ginger beer with lime, the new release rum is available with a $54.99 RRP from Dan Murphy’s, First Choice Liquor, Vintage Cellars, and BWS stores around the country.
