Quentin Tarantino’s movies have ranged from superb (Pulp Fiction) to great (Kill Bill) to weird (Inglourious Basterds). I wonder where Django unleashed will fit into the scale?

Judging from the trailer, it’s looking to slide in somewhere between great and superb. Starring Jamie Foxx as the slave Django, who is purchased by Dr King Schultz (Christopher Waltz) as a bounty hunter in the wild, wild west, the film also stars Leonardo DiCaprio in his first ever role as a true villain.

In typical Tarantino fashion, there’ll be plenty of bullets fired, plenty of controversy and plenty of gore, but hidden among the violence is destined to be a compelling, well-acted story.

Django Unchained is set to hit cinemas January 24 next year.
