It’s been a hectic start to the year for most industries. There are few better ways to chill out than by sharing a few rounds down at the local golf course with friends or clients. But if your drives have been firing stray lately, perhaps you need to invest in a new driver.

As with any sport, the tools of the game will make a significant difference to your overall performance. Gone are the days of low-tech golf clubs where it was your talent that made up 95 per cent of the end result. Now it has a hell of a lot more to do with equipping yourself with the right clubs for your game. Not everyone will be able to get the most out of a certain driver, no matter how good it has been rated. It well and truly depends on your swing style, physical attributes and the way you play the game.

We’re no golf experts, but the guys over the pond called the Pacific Ocean at Golf Digest certainly are. They just released their top 12 drivers of 2012. The big names such as Callaway, PING and Taylormade are joined by the likes of Cleveland, Cobra, Nike and more in this ultimate list of bad-ass drivers. Excuse the street…

The top five as judged by Golf Digest are the Callaway Razr Fit, Cleveland Classic, Cobra Amp, Nike VR_S and PING G20. Prices vary considerably and we are talking about US models, but thanks to the wonders of the internet there is virtually nothing you can’t import these days.
