Making a laptop out of glass seems like insanity, but you can’t deny that the end result looks amazing. HP’s Gorilla Glass-toting Envy 14 Spectre has just been announced for Australia, and it’s coming this month.

With a glass casing on its lid, display, palmrest and trackpad, the Envy 14 Spectre is one of the most striking Ultrabooks we’ve seen so far. It features a 14-inch screen, backlit keyboard with individual motion activated LEDs behind every key and Beats audio integration, the Spectre is a premium laptop designed for both men and women. It has the standard Intel Core processors, SSD storage, HDMI, USB 3.0 and mini-DisplayPort connections, but also incorporates an NFC chip for sharing URLs from an Android smartphone (with more potential applications for the sensor arriving in the future.

With a starting price of $1,899, it’s definitely at the premium end of Ultrabooks when it comes to cost, and will be available from HP direct, JB HiFi or Harvey Norman later this month.

Price: From $1,899
