Formula 1 driver by day, DJ Squire by night – and now holder of a number one iTunes album.
Jaime Alguesuari’s debut recording, Jaime Alguersuari presents Squire, Organic Life, proves that even if he can’t get around a track particularly quickly, he knows a thing or two about spinning decks.
Best known for driving a Scuderia Toro Rosso F1 car and holding the record for the youngest driver to ever start a Formula 1 race, Alguesuari has never kept his DJ-ing ambitions a secret. Known as DJ Squire in music circles, the Spaniard has made numerous appearance in Ibiza to show off his skills. He has a studio in Barcelona and headlined the 2010 Barcelona Music Conference, leading to this debut album, launched earlier in the year.
After just five days on iTunes it rocketed to number one in Spain. Jaime Alguersuari presents Squire, Organic Life is an electro-house album that adds a dash of jazz, pop and latin folk through its 12 tracks. It’s a proper dance floor album, with extended tracks and continuous beats – the final track carrying on for more than an hour.
While it won’t be to everyone’s taste, you can hardly accuse Alguersuari for a lack of talent. The album is available now on iTunes
