Sometimes the marketing and PR guff can be a bit presumptuous, and with cars it really is no different to anything else. Peugeot today announced the 4008 will hit Australia mid 2012 and would be our ideal compact SUV – Let us be the judge of that.

Why? Peugeot claim that because it is stylish, economical, easy to drive in the cities, tough, reliable and exceptionally flexible “out where the crows fly backwards to keep the dust out of their eyes”
Ok, we get it, you’re trying to pitch a very euro car to a very Aussie market. I respect that.
Let me say, I think it looks damn fine – Something I’d be happy to have in the driveway. And to be honest, I think Aussies get sick of the same old same old approach some times and often do want to make the plunge and be unique – problem is often the price, which of course we don’t know at this stage.
Seems Peugeot recognise that though, their marketing manager Richard Grant is quoted talking about a couple of particular 4008 models he felt were suited to Australians and Australian conditions – “Now it’s down to equipping these models suitably and negotiating the best possible prices for what is arguably the most competitive car market in the world.”
With features like a Panoramic glass roof, full Bluetooth and USB plus daytime running lights, the 4008 carries all the ‘typical Peugeot touches’.
Available in both two-wheel and four-wheel-drive, the 4008 complements the existing 3008 and 4007 Peugeot models with all three being placed on sale side by side.
The 3008 will appeal to the luxury market, the 4007 to those needing something bigger so the 4008 seems to fit perfectly.
Peugeot Australia expect the 4008 to be on sale in the second quarter (April-June) of 2012 after its world premier at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
